Container Dryer Varieties

Container dryers are ideal to get your fruit drying operation up and running as quick as possible. Installation on site takes only a few days and you have the benefit of moving the dryer to a new location hassle free. The container dryer consists of a retrofitted 20ft shipping container with good insulation, fans, temperature control and a heating source*

All container dryers can dry up to 1,5 ton "cut and peeled" fruit in 16 hours. Fruit is peeled and cut onto plastic drying racks that are stacked

1. LPG or Natural gas burner

   1. Gas fired container dryers have a burner that is more expensive than electric elements

   2. Running cost on gas is much cheaper than electrical

2. Coal and biomass

   1. The container has an integrated boiler compartment where coal and biomass (Seeds, macadamia shells, palm kernel shells etc) is burned to heat the dryer

   2. The boiler compartment is completely sealed off from the fruit dryer compartment and no contaminants or smoke can reach the fruit

3. Electrical

   1. Electrical dryers are the cheapest to build due to low cost of electrical elements

   2. The running cost for electrical dryer are however the most expensive of all dryer types due to high electricity cost

   3. Electrical dryer are exclusively used for very low moisture items like herbs, seeds or leaves
